“Tatort” star Jan Josef Liefers and his wife Anna Loos are mourning their dog Tony. On Instagram, the popular acting couple bid farewell to their loyal companion with emotional posts.
Tony, the dog of Jan Josef Liefers and Anna Loos, passed away at the age of 16. The couple revealed this on their respective Instagram profiles. “We love you… we miss you,” Anna Loos writes in an emotional post saying goodbye to her beloved pet. “The best dog in the world, Tony Liefers, we will all miss you very much.”
“Safe travels, my Tony boy…”
Jan Josef Liefers, who has played the eccentric forensic pathologist Prof. Dr. Dr. Karl-Friedrich Boerne in Münster’s “Tatort” for more than 20 years, also shared an emotional post about his dog’s death. He took his more than 217,000 fans on a journey into the past: “Sixteen years ago, at about six months old, Tony had already made it into the New York Times,” he recalls.
“He was sitting next to me on the counter of the Lebensstern bar in Berlin when the photographer clicked the shutter. The bar no longer exists either. We miss our best buddy so much. Safe travels, my Tony boy… 🌈” Anna Loos, who is also successful as a singer alongside her acting career, is sure she will miss Tony forever.

“Thank you for the wonderful 16 years by your side”
“We will never see a snowflake fall again without thinking about how much you loved winter,” she writes on the photo platform Instagram. “Thank you for the wonderful 16 years by your side. We love you.” Many sympathetic comments from friends and fans can be found under the couple’s posts. For example, one follower writes: “Losing a loyal companion is an incredibly great pain.”
Another writes: “He must have had a great time with you—16 years of loyal friendship speak for themselves.” The death of their family dog is likely to hit the couple very hard, especially after such a long time together. In an older interview with “Balu from the blog,” Jan Josef Liefers said about his relationship with Tony: “Tony is a family member and my best buddy.” If Tony didn’t exist, his day would look completely different, the actor and musician said at the time.1

Liefers adopted the dog, whom he describes as family-oriented, smart, and humorous, from the Berlin animal shelter. In another interview, the family man lovingly describes his Tony: “Tony is a balanced, calm guy who always reminds me how little one needs to be content and happy.”2
